Soundcloud may be the social media marketing exclusively for musicians. Most users musicians, producers, dj’s and the like. Whether it’s funk, hiphop, dubstep or country you’re making underneath line is, musicians understand and respect the amount of time it takes to make a musical piece. Therefore if your hiphop producer listens to your country song on Soundcloud, they’ll most likely enjoy it and perhaps leave a comment on your hard work. On YouTube however, when someone doesn’t like your song just because it’s something they’re not into, it’s very likely that you’ll receive a thumbs down which I have to express is not the most effective reward all day upon hours of hard work.
Music may be the focus. If YouTube has over 3 billion views per day, imagine how many videos are uploaded to channels. Of these videos, only a portion of them are music related. People carry on YouTube to forage for videos of different regions of entertainment and music is only among them. Soundcloud however has one purpose, and that’s to really get your music heard and for you yourself to hear other people’s music. It’s what it’s designed for!
Better chance to getting your song shared by a person who has made a name for himself on social media. Whenever someone favorites a song on Soundcloud, it is automatically listed in the feed of followers of the user who favorited the song soundcloud acim. A few of these users may have thousands of followers and if one of these brilliant people like your song, you can get exposure for their group of followers as well. Although YouTube also shows a stream of user likes, comments etc, it is not nearly as visible or efficient.
Ideally you should be leveraging all social media marketing sites so as to really get your music out there. Soundcloud and YouTube really are musts. I’d also suggest leveraging Twitter, Facebook, Bandpage in addition to all your social media marketing bookmarking webistes as well such as Digg and Reddit. A few of this might sound quite overwhelming but you can certainly do it one bit at a time. Before long, maybe you can form a website team and have other people do it for you but you should be savvy enough to understand how it works so you can show others how to complete it. If you don’t have time and need to select one, I’d give attention to Soundcloud.
